About Nom Nom Products
Here’s a little about the company and its products.
Who Makes Nom Nom and Where Is It Produced?
Nom Nom employs veterinary professionals to formulate its products and is based in Nashville, Tennessee. The creators of Nom Nom believe dogs deserve food full of nutrients and goodness since they are part of our families.
They focus on quality over quantity, producing and perfecting four scrumptious meals for canines. It seems their innovative idea really caught on! Nom Nom has created an empire to change how we view our dogs’ diets. It has operated since 2014.
Which Types of Dogs is Nom Nom Best Suited For?
Nom Nom is designed for dogs of any breed, including those with food allergies or sensitivities. The meals are pre-measured, packaged, and sent to your dog on time. Each recipe is made with balanced, high-quality ingredients. So, it’s a more natural diet for your canine.
Recall History
As of this writing, Nom Nom has had no recalls for their freshly made dog foods. So, you can safely feed Nom Nom to your beloved pup.
Discussion of the Primary Ingredients (Good and Bad)
Nom Nom produces four recipes for dogs with nutritious ingredients. We really picked apart the ingredients list. Here’s what we found.
1. Protein
Since dogs need animal protein to thrive, the type, quality, and amount of meat in dog food are crucial. Meat is the first ingredient in every Nom Nom recipe. Here are the perks of each.
- Beef is a very protein-dense red meat that builds muscle mass. It is also high in fat, which can help your dog feel fuller quickly. Beef has many beneficial nutrients, such as B vitamins, zinc, iron, and selenium.
- Chicken is a type of poultry that has less fat than red meat. It contains omega fatty acids, helps your dog build lean muscle mass, maintains a healthy coat and skin, and promotes high energy.
- Pork is a less common choice in dog foods. It promotes strong bones and builds necessary muscle. It is also full of thiamine, an essential mineral for cell function.
- Turkey is a type of poultry that is lean and full of valuable nutrients. It is a highly digestible protein.
2. Grain/Starch
- Potatoes are used in many commercial dog foods as a replacement for grain. While they get somewhat of a bad rap in some nutritionist circles, they are safe when cooked and can be nutritious for dogs.
- Sweet potatoes, unlike their russet cousins, are highly nutritious and ultra-digestible. This superfood contains all sorts of beneficial vitamins and minerals, and fiber. Plus, they are packed with vitamin A, a powerful antioxidant.
- Brown rice is a highly digestible grain that promotes heart health and smooth digestion. It also contains fiber and magnesium.
3. Eggs
Eggs are controversial ingredients due to some dogs’ sensitivity to them. They contain allergy triggers that can cause problematic clinical signs like diarrhea, vomiting, and itchy skin. However, eggs are tremendously healthy for dogs that can tolerate them. Besides high-quality, highly digestible protein, they have loads of other vitamins and minerals, such as zinc, choline, folate, and vitamin D.
4. Veggies
Nom Nom picked some advantageous veggies to throw in the mix.
- Carrots are a source of fiber, vitamin A, calcium, and beta-carotene for improving your pup’s vision.
- Spinach is a leafy green packed with vitamin A and calcium to support eye and bone health.
- Squash is stacked with potassium and beta-carotene, improving vision and maintaining eye integrity.
- Kale is a superfood full of vitamin K, iron, vitamin C, and calcium.
- Mushrooms add flavor and nutrition and are loaded with fiber and protein.
- Green beans are a great source of fiber and choline to help your pup have a healthy digestion.
- Peas are a source of fiber and protein, but they are slightly controversial due to their link to potential heart issues in dogs. However, as long as they are not present in large amounts, peas can be part of your dog’s diet.
5. Other Ingredients
Here are other ingredients mentioned in Nom Nom’s meals. The added vitamins and minerals formulate a complete and balanced food that covers all of a dog’s requirements.
Added Vitamins
- Vitamin E
- Riboflavin
- Vitamin B1
- Vitamin B6
- Vitamin D3
- Vitamin B12
- Vitamin B2
Added Minerals
- Calcium carbonate
- Copper
- Potassium
- Zinc
Amino Acids
- Taurine
Other
- Vinegar
- Fish Oil
- Choline bitartrate
We scoured the ingredients relentlessly, and nothing was hidden from sight or disguised under an unrecognizable name.
Shipping, Packaging, and Presentation
Ordering was a cinch. The website guides you through details about your pup, asking for relevant information regarding breed, age, and overall healthfulness. Once you have your plan, the company sends you emails letting you know the status every step of the way.
We were impressed with the packaging when the Nom Nom package arrived for our dogs. The food is frozen and wrapped in a temperature-controlled casing. All the contents stayed intact, and there were no defects to mention.

Portions and Personalization
The dog food was neatly packed in banded packs and perfectly portioned for our pups. Each meal is individually packed in plastic, with a peelable seal for convenience. We placed a few packs in the fridge to start the thawing process.
We tried it out once it was ready to go the next day. It was an instant hit! We used the food as a topper to test the waters, following the recommended transition instructions. One thing we should mention is that we have two dogs. It was confusing to figure out which meals were for what dogs since there were no labels, but we quickly figured it out, so it was a minor hiccup on our Nom Nom journey.
Quality and Convenience
We can’t complain about Nom Nom’s quality. Its dog food looks like a meal you would make for dinner yourself. We love that the ingredients are high-quality and that the meals are delivered right to your door.
You can have the meals sent on a schedule, as needed, once your trial ends. We think for the right families, the overall quality and convenience of Nom Nom is unbeatable.
Pups Say, “More Please!”
We had absolutely no issues transitioning our dogs to Nom Nom. They took to it instantaneously. After the first two times of eating it, they eagerly anticipated it at mealtime. It’s really a no-brainer when it comes to flavor—freshly made is just better.
Reviews of the 4 Best Nom Nom Dog Food Recipes
1. Nom Nom Turkey Fare Dog Food – Our Favorite
* Nom Nom now offers a free Storage Tub with any subscription purchase
Nom Nom Turkey Fare is an excellent recipe with five base ingredients: turkey, brown rice, eggs, carrots, and spinach. We were impressed with the consistency; it has chunks of fresh, colorful ingredients.
It even smells appetizing to humans. We appreciate Nom Nom because what is advertised on the package is exactly what you get, so we commend the transparency. One cup has 201 calories. The guaranteed analysis includes 10.0% crude protein, 5.0% crude fat, 1.0% crude fiber, and 72.0%.
The base of the food starts with ground turkey as the first, ensuring a solid protein source. In addition to the other fabulous five, there are essential vitamins, minerals, thiamine, taurine, and fatty acids.
Our dogs gobbled up this delightful dish with no complaints. It looks good enough to eat! Each portion comes prepackaged in convenient, peel-back plastic wraps to keep the food fresh and make it easy to store.
Overall, we think that Nom Nom recipes, including this Turkey Fare formula, are carefully crafted with your dog in mind. It gets a big thumbs up from us! However, the turkey might not work for dogs with an allergy to poultry.
- Five base ingredients
- Excellent medley of vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids
- Delicious, prepackaged recipes
- Pup approved
- Not for dogs with poultry allergy
2. Pork Potluck
* Nom Nom now offers a free Storage Tub with any subscription purchase
This recipe starts with ground pork before layering on green beans, squash, kale, and cremini mushrooms. It’s delicious and diverse in nutritional profile, and most dogs love it. Unfortunately, russet potatoes are added along with the other vegetables, so a large percentage of the formula is a simple carbohydrate source. It’s not enough to make this poor-quality food by any means, but we’d prefer to see something a bit more substantial in their place.
The good news is that the rest of the recipe is excellent, and all those veggies add up to give this meal quite a bit of dietary fiber.
- Varied nutritional profile
- Good amount of fiber
- Most dogs love taste
- Many russet potatoes inside
3. Chicken Cuisine
* Nom Nom now offers a free Storage Tub with any subscription purchase
The chicken cuisine is perhaps the most “basic” of all of Nom Nom’s recipes, but that’s hardly a bad thing. It includes diced chicken, sweet potatoes (better than russets), squash, and spinach. There are also three sources of omega fatty acids—fish oil, canola oil, and sunflower oil—to ensure a healthy balanced ratio.
While this is a balanced recipe, it’s not suitable for dogs with a poultry allergy.
- Diced chicken is first ingredient
- Relies on sweet potatoes rather than russets
- Plenty of omega fatty acids inside
- Not suitable for dogs with a poultry allergy
4. Beef Mash
* Nom Nom now offers a free Storage Tub with any subscription purchase
The ingredients list for the beef mash reads like the perfect meal. It starts with ground beef, then adds russet potatoes, eggs, carrots, and peas. The eggs and beef ensure that this mix has plenty of protein, so your dog should feel strong both inside and out.
Unfortunately, beef is not exactly the most ecological protein source, so if your dog is not allergic to poultry, it’s probably better to avoid this recipe.
- High protein levels
- Great for building muscle
- Good option for pups with poultry allergies
- Not the most ecological protein source
