The 10 Best Water Bottles for Rabbits:
1. Choco Nose No-Drip Rabbit Water Bottle – Best Overall
The Choco Nose No-Drip Small Animal Water Bottle is our pick as the best overall rabbit water bottle. This brand features a patented leak-proof nozzle that uses a small ball to prevent drips. The rabbit moves the ball when getting a drink. It’s suitable for rabbits and any other small animal, and it’s very durable with the help of its chew-proof nozzle. The plastic is safe and contains no BPAs.
The only problem we had while reviewing the Choco Nose No-Drip Small Animal Water Bottle is that from time to time, the small rubber ball became stuck, preventing our pet from getting a drink until we worked it out.
- Patented leak-proof nozzle
- Recommended for all small animals
- Chew-proof nozzle
- Contains no BPAs
- Sometimes the ball gets stuck
2. Kaytee Chew-Proof Rabbit Water Bottle – Best Value
The Kaytee Chew-Proof Small Animal Water Bottle is our pick for the best rabbit water bottle for the money. This inexpensive model uses durable chew-proof glass and steel. There are no BPAs or other harmful chemicals that could endanger your pet. The glass bottle is easy to see through and features a floating duck that acts as a refill reminder. A double ball system helps reduce leaks.
The downside to the Kaytee Chew-Proof Small Animal Water Bottle is that it’s quite heavy and doesn’t feel sturdy when hanging. It also tends to leak, despite the double ball system.
- Chew-proof glass and steel
- BPA free
- Refill reminder
- Heavy, making it a bit unsturdy
- Leaks a little bit
3. Lixit Deluxe Glass Rabbit Water Bottle – Premium Choice
The Lixit Deluxe Glass Pet Water Bottle is our premium choice rabbit water bottle. This model features a durable glass and steel construction. It’s larger than a lot of the other water bottles on this list and can hold up to 32 ounces of water. It’s easy to clean and dishwasher safe. A USDA-approved rubber stopper helps prevent leaks. Installation only took a few minutes, and the water bottle was held in place firmly.
The problem with the Lixit Deluxe Glass Pet Water Bottle was with the cork-style top. To prevent the bottle from dripping, you need to push the cork in pretty far, which makes it hard to remove when it comes time for a refill.
- Glass and steel construction
- Large
- Dishwasher safe
- USDA-approved rubber stopper
- Easy installation
- Cork style top
4. Lixit Glass Bunny Water Bottle
The Lixit Chew Proof Glass Small Animal Bottle is a durable, heavy-duty glass and steel water bottle for your rabbit. It features a rubber stopper and a double ball valve to help prevent leaks, and it’s dishwasher safe, so it’s easy to clean. It comes with all the hardware required to install it. You can also mount it on the inside or outside of the cage. A floating turtle water level indicator helps you determine when it’s time for a refill.
While we were reviewing the Lixit Chew Proof Glass Small Animal Bottle, we couldn’t get it to stop dripping. Often, we would need to refill it the same day.
- Heavy-duty glass
- Rubber stopper and double ball valve
- Mounts inside or outside of the cage
- Water level indicator
- Drips
5. MidWest Homes for Pets
The MidWest Homes for Pets water bottle is a viable option for rabbits and one you should consider. It attaches to the cage relatively easily, and definitely securely! So your little bunny won’t be knocking it out of its place every few minutes, causing messes and lack of hydration.
This particular bottle is relatively large, able to hold 20.28 ounces of water. These particular water bottles were designed to fit with certain types of cages, so always check to make sure that the spacing in your cage is compatible. This particular water bottle features a stainless steel sip spout.
The design is completely BPA free, so you don’t have to worry about toxicity either. We think you’ll love how easy it is all the way around the board!
- Stainless steel spout
- Secure fit
- Large capacity
- May not work with all cages
6. Living World Eco+ Bunny Water Bottle
The Living World 61580 Eco + Water Bottle is unique because it uses recycled glass in its construction. Recycled glass makes it environmentally friendly as well as durable. It’s easy to install, and all hardware comes with it. It also features a water level indicator to let you know when it’s time to refill the bottle.
The downside to using the Living World 61580 Eco + Water Bottle is that it’s tiny and only holds 6 ounces of water. The water comes out slowly as well, so the rabbits have a hard time getting enough water in their diet. We also thought it was angled too low for our rabbit and would be better suited to smaller pets. One final problem we had with this brand was that the supplied hardware didn’t fit all cages.
- Recycled glass
- Easy to install
- Water level indicator
- Small
- Doesn’t attach to all tanks
- Angle low
7. Rent-A-Coop No-Drip Small Animal Drinking Bottle
The Rent-A-Coop No-Drip Small Animal Drinking Bottle is certainly an easy way to make sure that your rabbit has all the water they desire. This particular water bottle is square, fitting very flush on the edge of the cage.
So you don’t have to worry about any circular water bottle tipping, coming apart, or dropping off. This water bottle has an auto-filling metal cup that refills to ¾ full, so your rabbit has access to fresh water always. This particular design has an easy open top so you can just pour a water bottle in to fill it up. You don’t even have to take it off the cage!
This is also a very sturdy selection, so you don’t have to worry about your rabbit chewing through it and making a mess. It really is a good way to refill your rabbit’s water without all the extra hassle. However, it is a little pricey compared to some of the other options on our list. It also doesn’t seem like the silver bowl can be detached, meaning it might be difficult to clean.
- No tipping or spilling
- Metal cup
- Sturdy and chew-proof
- Pricey
- Can be difficult to clean
8. Oasis SOA80800 Rabbit Water Bottles
The Oasis SOA80800 Rabbit Water Bottle is another rabbit water bottle that features an attractive design on the bottle. It has a large capacity and can hold up to 32-ounces at a time. It also has a double ballpoint steel vacuum valve to reduce drips and extend durability. This system adds a second ball to reduce water flow.
Unfortunately, the Oasis SOA80800 Rabbit Water Bottle drips like crazy, even with the special double ball system. The balls also make a lot of noise, and this bottle may even be considered noisy.
- Attractive pattern
- 32-ounce capacity
- Double ballpoint steel vacuum valve
- Drips on occasion
- Noisy when rabbit is drinking
9. Vannon Small Animals Water Bottle
The Vannon Small Animals Water Bottle has several different perks that make it worthwhile. First, it comes with a built-in activated charcoal filter. These charcoal filters absorb any impurities in the chlorine from your water.
This is excellent for rabbits since they are so sensitive to certain chemicals. It offers a fillable tray that is available for your rabbit anytime they’re thirsty. Rather than having to fiddle with a narrow water source, they can openly drink water without obstruction.
Hanging it on the cage is a breeze! It simply fits together with two pieces and screws on tightly to secure it. This particular water bottle is made of food grade PP material, completely safe with no chemical odor.
The screws are stainless steel, so you won’t have to worry about moisture rusting the design. There is also a detachable floating disc inside the water so it prevents splashing and overflowing of the dish.
Ultimately, we really enjoyed it, although the overall plastic parts are not quite as sturdy as some. It may also spill easily if not attached well.
- Charcoal filtration
- Chemical-free
- Detachable floating disc
- Not as sturdy as some
- May spill easily
10. Kathson Rabbit Water Dispenser
The Kathson Rabbit Water Dispenser might be at the bottom of our list, but there are certainly good things about it that we can mention. Firstly, this bottle can hold 17 ounces for your pet at a time, which is not as much as some others on our list but still a good amount.
It also comes in adorable colors! If you’re the kind of person who loves aesthetics, you will be able to choose between light blue, dark blue, and pink. It is also dustproof and leak proof to prevent contamination to the water.
It comes with an automatic water outlet and suspension, preventing overflow. Also, if the cage bars are warped, it still secures tightly on the design. The little filler tray is very nice as it prevents any kind of overspill, but it is also a little harder to clean than some other water bottles.
The material is a bit flimsier as well, meaning it might not last quite as long as some other selections on the market.
- Adorable colors
- Prevents overflow
- Secure fit
- Flimsy
- Hard to clean
Buyer’s Guide: Choosing the Best Rabbit Water Bottles
In this section, let’s discuss the essential features the best rabbit water bottles have:

Capacity
One of the first things most people do when shopping for a new rabbit water bottle is to look at the capacity. We’ve seen water bottles with a capacity of 4-ounces, as well as some brands that hold a gallon. According to Raising Rabbits, a four-pound rabbit requires about one cup of water per day.
We recommend a water bottle that holds at least 12 ounces, but there is no need for a bottled larger than 32-ounces if you only have one rabbit. If the bottle is too large and the water sits too long, there’s a better chance of bacteria growing. We recommend cleaning the bottle every time you refill it.
Installation
The ease of installation is difficult to determine before you purchase your water bottle, but this is something many brands have a hard time getting right. We can’t count the water bottles we have reviewed that wouldn’t stay in place. You shouldn’t need to use twisty ties or plastic zip ties to keep your bottle.
We’ve tried to let you know when a bottle wouldn’t stay in place during our reviews, but you’ll need to check online reviews before you purchase other models. Brands that fasten to both sides of the cage offer the best chance of staying in place.
Drinking Straw
On human water bottles, the drinking straw is almost an afterthought, but on a rabbit drinking bottle, it’s usually part of the mechanism that prevents drips. We recommend a metal straw over a plastic one because your rabbit can chew through plastic.
Many of these straws also contain ball bearings that create a system similar to a ballpoint pen. When your rabbit is not taking a drink, the ball bearing prevents water from escaping. Multiple ball bearings can slow the water down even further and reduce the chances that water will drip.
Plastic vs Glass
Let’s look at the difference between plastic and glass bottles.
Glass
Almost all water bottles are plastic or glass. Glass bottles will be much more durable than plastic, and they don’t give the water a plastic taste. However, they are expensive and heavy, and it can be challenging to fasten them to the cage.
- Durable
- No flavor change
- Expensive
- Heavy
Plastic
Plastic is a lightweight material that is easier to fasten to a cage. It’s also inexpensive compared to glass, but it can impart a flavor to the water, and some cheap brands can contain harmful BPAs.
- Lightweight
- Inexpensive
- Flavors the water
- May contain BPAs

When choosing a water bottle for your rabbit, we recommend a glass or BPA-free plastic bottle 12 to 32 ounces in size. Something with a double or triple balls system will reduce drips, while a brand that attaches to both sides of the cage will minimize sliding. The Choco Nose No-Drip Small Animal Water Bottle is our top choice and is a perfect example of a water bottle that will last several years and doesn’t drip. The Lixit Deluxe Glass Pet Water Bottle is our premium choice because even though it’s expensive, it’s one of the best bottles available.
