Can You Return Fish to PetSmart?

If you purchase a fish from PetSmart and decide later you don’t want that fish, return it to PetSmart for an exchange or refund if you make the return within 14 days. You must bring along your receipt and a valid photo ID, and you must return the fish safely in an appropriate container.

Can You Return a Sick Fish to PetSmart?

PetSmart allows you to exchange a sick fish for a refund or exchange if you do it within 14 days and bring your receipt. The store does require that you bring the fish in without causing it any harm. The best way to do this is to put the fish and some of its tank water in a plastic container or bag and head to the store directly without wasting time.

Can You Return a Dead Fish to PetSmart?

If you buy a fish from PetSmart and the fish dies unexpectedly within 14 days of purchase, don’t flush that poor thing down the toilet or throw it in the trash.

PetSmart allows you to return a dead fish for a refund or exchange if you show your receipt and take a sample of your tank water. The reason you should take along some tank water is that the store will likely want to test the water to see if it’s safe for other fish to live in.

You don’t need to return a dead fish to the store in a water-filled container. However, you do need to put that dead fish in a secure container.

Whatever you do, don’t walk into PetSmart with a dead fish in your pocket or purse and expect the store to give you a return or refund. Instead, you’ll probably get a very shocked reaction from the store personnel and maybe even a scream!

Can You Return an Opened Toy to PetSmart?

If you have purchased a toy from PetSmart and opened it only to find out your pet hates it, you may get upset. After all, it’s not fun to buy a toy for your pet only to discover he won’t play with it.

The good news is that you can return an opened toy to PetSmart for an exchange or refund if you do so within 60 days from the day of purchase and show your receipt.

You must put the toy back in its original packaging and the toy must be in like-new condition, just as it was when you took it out of the package. This is great news to hear if your pet is picky about what types of toys it plays with daily!
