Springtime in my house is the season of hair. While both my dogs and my cat have short coats, they still seem to shed five times their weight in hair at this time every year.
Neakasa’s S1 Pro Pet Grooming Vacuum Kit seemed like the perfect solution to help get that hair off my pets and keep it from taking over my house.
As soon as the box arrived, I gleefully unpacked the many components and got to work testing them with the help of my dog, Ragz.
What I Liked
One thing I really like about this kit that sets it apart from other options is how many accessories it comes with. You get three different brush attachments, standard clippers with six different guards, narrow clippers, nail trimmers, and even a couple of vacuum attachments to clean up with afterward.
With short-coated dogs, I was most interested in the brush options. I found that both the deshedding brush and the undercoat rake worked wonders on Ragz’s short double coat.
The best part was that once the brush head filled with hair, all I had to do was press the button on the handle and a shield would pop up and free the hair, then suck it into the vacuum.
This isn’t a perfect process, as some of the hair inevitably gets released into the air, but it certainly leaves the area much cleaner than it normally is after I brush my dogs. What this function does do well is greatly speed up the process since I don’t have to stop and pull the hair out of the brush constantly.
What little mess was left when I was finished was easy enough to clean up using the vacuum attachments that come with the kit. The crevice brush not only works well for spot cleaning after grooming, but is amazing for cleaning out the cracks in the couch. The hair remover roller is also a great tool for the couch, but be sure to set the suction to high to get the most out of it.
I also love how light and compact the vacuum is, how the waste bin is clear so you can see when it’s full, and how easy it is to dump that waste bin.
Where I Saw Room for Improvement
The main aspect of the S1 Pro that could be improved is the nail grinder. I was very excited about this attachment because it constantly sucks up the nail dust as you Dremel your dog’s nails—that means no dust in the eye or on your floor!
Unfortunately, this system just doesn’t seem to have the power to be effective, at least not on thick dog nails. Whenever I tried to Dremel Ragz’s nails, the vacuum would almost instantly shut down and flash a warning for “overcurrent,” meaning the motor had overheated.
I was able to get it to work for about ten minutes on my Chihuahua’s thinner nails, but the process was slow, and after one paw, it shut down on me. I even contacted the Neakasa and had them send another grinder head to see if that was the problem, but the unit continued to experience overcurrent anytime I tried to use this function.
I also wish the cord was a little longer so I could more easily use the unit to vacuum my couch and to groom outside.
Overall, I was really impressed with the S1 Pro, but I would use something else for nail trims. The brushes work very well, and the vacuum system really helps control the mess. While I didn’t have much to test the clippers on, they did work great to trim Ragz’s paw hair and to shave my husband’s head!

Intelligently Designed

The vacuum body is shaped like a donut, with the motor housing on the bottom and the clear, arched dustbin on the top. This unit is substantially smaller than most competitors’ systems, easy to move around, and super convenient to store.
The clear dustbin has a fairly large capacity, given the unit’s compact nature, and is very easy to clean out. Simply detach the top half of the donut and pull out the filter to empty the contents into the trash. The clear bin makes it easy to know when it’s time to dump it out and allows you to see what fun trinkets come out of your couch cushions.
