Is Waterless Shampoo Good for Cats?

While dry shampoo seems like a solution for cats that hate water, you might consider whether there are side effects to using it. There are certain instances where waterless shampoo isn’t the best option.

If your cat is visibly dirty, they will need a bath. While dry shampoo is great for spot cleaning or tidying up their fur, it will not be enough to remove excess dirt or mud. Since cats are natural groomers, they will try to lick off any shampoo you put on their coat. For this reason, it is important to only use grooming products that are specifically formulated for cats. Using human versions of grooming products puts your cat at risk of ingesting toxic chemicals.

How to Use Dry Shampoo for Cats

The best way to apply dry shampoo is to spray a bit on a towel and rub the shampoo on your cat. This should be done about once a week, and your cat shouldn’t be soaked with dry shampoo. If your cat is covered with mud, you will need to bathe them.

Is It Safe to Use Waterless Shampoo on Kittens?
